Thanks for the memories!
Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. (Acts 20:28)

I could not believe I found this and the emotion I have behind it all. I am currently doing family research. My Grandmother is a Mattingly/Porter. I grew up going to St Cecilia church.

My great grandparents were members of Our Lady in early 1900's, Patrick and Annie Hallinan Giltnane. I see my grandfather Robert and his brother John Giltnane are listed as World War I vets. Thanks for the nice web site and history of the Church.

A friend of mine sent me this website address. She lives in Louisville and has been helping me with my ancestors. She discovered that my great great grandfather, McColly Stout built this church. He was a bricklayer, and is mentioned in a meeting there September 11, 1840. Do you have the original that I could have a copy of? My e-mail address is svbutler@bellsouth.net. The website is GREAT!!

I graduated from C.C.S. in 1994. My grandmother Jean Schraffenberger worked in the school cafeteria for years. I have so many wonderful childhood memories from C.C.S. I want to thank you for including the history and photos from the school. I am so grateful for being able to attend C.C.S. K-8th grade. My graduating class had only 14 students so we became very close. How I wish there was a way to turn back the hands of time! Thanks again for this great site!!

I have been doing some genealogical research and found where my great-great-great grandparents and their ten children emigrated from Germany to New Orleans in May 1855 due to persecution of Catholics in their homeland. Later that year they arrived in Portland. Some are buried in St. John's cemetery. In my research I came across your parish. It is great to see such a vibrant parish in the inner city. I am sure at some point my ancestors attended Mass at the Church of Our Lady. Maybe some us are related? Blessings to all!

I enjoy the website so much, Our Lady Church has been part of my family for many years. I always feel like I've come home when attending Mass there. Thanks so much for a great website.

I just stumbled onto this web site while I was searching churches in the Archdiocese. It is such a joy to see all the pictures and so many with names. I love reading the history of the church, much of it I did not know. This web site brings back such wonderful memories. I can't wait to read it all. Thank you so much for this web site!
