For nearly 170 years, the Church of Our Lady served the Roman Catholic community
in the historic Portland neighborhood of West Louisville (see map). Founded in 1839, it was the second oldest Catholic parish in the city and the
third oldest in the Archdiocese of Louisville.
As part of the Archdiocean Parish Reorganization Plan, Our Lady merged with St. Cecilia (see map) and St. Anthony parishes, both located in the Portland neighborhood. Archbishop
Joseph E. Kurtz decreed Our Lady as the host site for the new parish of
Good Shepherd of June 17, 2009. Read news about the merger.
Please note: This website will be retired on February 24, 2010.
A new link to its contents will be posted before that time.
We appreciate your patronage and support over the past few years. A site for Good
Shepherd parish will be created, and the historical content of the Our Lady website
will continue to be available for new generations to view.
